Spelling Words:

No Spelling this week due to a shorten week.  We will be working on cursive handwriting.

 

Reading Class  - AR required points for 4th quarter is 18 point. 5 points must be non-fiction. 

In reading my class will continue with their fairy tale unit.  We will be working on comprehension questions, fact/opinion, cause/effect, and reviewing verbs.  Along with Daily Oral Language this week they will also be working on nonfiction quick checks.

 

 

Math Class 

My Math class is working on their Measuring and Time unit.  During this unit they are still required to study their multiplication and division flash cards nightly.  They will be having timings on these facts until the end of school timings will be on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.  Your child needs to pass their 10’s by the end of the year.  If they do not pass they will be asked to continue their practice throughout the summer to be ready for 4th grade. 

Social Studies

Their final test for my government unit will be Friday, May 29th.  A study guide went home Friday, May 22nd.

My Math class is working on their comparing fractions unit.  During this unit they are still required to study their multiplication and division flash cards nightly.  Your child needs to have tested out of their multiplication facts 1 through 10 by the end of the year,

Social Studies

The students this week will continuing learning about the history of Billings.  We will be using the Kunos to look up important information about Billings to create a brochure of our findings.  A study guide will go home Tuesday, May 12th for their test on communities.  The test will be Thursday, May 14th.

My homeroom is studying Map Skills with Mr. Leintz.  Please check his blog for test dates.

This week our reading class will be reading the short story “How to Eat Fried Worms”.  We will be working on vocabulary, fact/opinion, comprehension questions, and cause/effect.

Math Class

My Math class is working on their geometry unit.  During this unit they are still required to study their multiplication and division flash cards nightly.  This is for credit.  Please sign your child’s flash card parent signature sheet every night and return it to school on Wednesdays along with their reading logs.

Social Studies

We will be starting our Social Studies unit this week on communities and the three branches of government.  This unit will continue for five weeks.  The students this week will be working on their community books learning about their responsibilities on our community and the different types of communities.

Mr. Leintz’s homeroom will be in my Social Studies class this week on working on communities and the three branches of government.  This unit will continue for six weeks.  The students will be studying the three branches of government this week.  A study guide will go home Friday, April 10th for their next test on Friday, April 17th.

My homeroom is now with Mrs. Staffileno covering the topic of Montana History.
